Historical Background

St Thomas Institute (as the company was re-branded in 1996) started as a Kinder-garden school in 1980. Since 1984 Primary, Secondary, O-level and A-level courses were also added.

Intermediate level courses were also integrated as part of the courses offered when they were introduced. By 1995 around 60 courses were offered. These included courses in Philosophy for Children (since 1992) when the Institute for the Advancement of Philosophy for Children within the Montclair State University officially authorised the Malta Institute of Philosophy for Children and the Young. In 1996 our operations were re-branded as St Thomas Institute. St Thomas Institute obtained State Licensing in 1999. Since 1996 the Institute became a founding member of the Mediterranean Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Development; a founding member of the Small States Association of Cooperation and Development in Education; a cultural partner of the NPGOM Foundation, the NDCOM Foundation, the EDC Foundation and the EPG Foundation and the founding body of the Psychometric Foundation of Malta.
